Plain-English summary
- We collect your address and basic property info to find your savings.
- We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers — ever.
- You can download or delete everything we have about you in one click.
- SOC 2 Type II audited. AES-256 at rest. TLS 1.3 in transit.
1. What we collect
Information you provide: name, email, phone (optional), property address, property characteristics you submit, photos of property condition, payment method (handled by Stripe), and any messages you send to support.
Information collected automatically: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use first-party cookies and a single privacy-respecting analytics tool (Plausible) that does not set tracking cookies and does not collect personal information.
Information from public records: we pull your assessment record, deed history, and comparable sales from county and MLS sources to perform the analysis you request.
Information from optional integrations: if you connect a service (e.g. ID.me for veteran verification, your mortgage servicer for live rate data), we receive only the specific fields you authorize.
2. How we use it
- To analyze your property and prepare your appeal evidence packet.
- To monitor your mortgage rate, title, and insurance for changes worth telling you about.
- To send you transactional notifications (appeal status, deadline reminders, alerts) and — only if you opt in — occasional product updates.
- To improve our valuation models, in aggregate and de-identified form only.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. What we share (and never share)
We never: sell your data, rent your data, share your data with advertisers, or use your data to target you with third-party advertising.
We share only with:
- Service providers who run the platform on our behalf (e.g. AWS for hosting, Stripe for payments, Postmark for email) under strict data-processing agreements.
- Your county assessor or designated authority when filing an appeal you authorized.
- Law enforcement when compelled by a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process. We notify you unless legally prohibited.
- An acquirer in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to honoring this Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies & tracking
We use a single first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels (no Google Ads, no Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight tag). Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless and respects Do-Not-Track.
5. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Access a copy of your data in a portable format (JSON or CSV).
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and all associated personal data.
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
Use the controls in your account page, or email privacy@wisepropertytax.com. We respond within 15 days (and always within 45 days as required by CPRA).
6. Security
We are SOC 2 Type II audited and use AES-256 encryption at rest plus TLS 1.3 in transit. Read our full security overview →
7. Retention & deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we erase your personal data within 30 days, except for limited records we must retain to comply with tax, legal, or regulatory obligations (typically 7 years for transaction records). We send you a deletion-confirmation email when complete.
8. California (CCPA / CPRA) rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. Submit requests to privacy@wisepropertytax.com.
9. EU / UK rights
If you are located in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our lawful basis for processing is performance of the contract you entered into with us and your explicit consent for marketing communications. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. Our EU Representative is Mishcon de Reya GDPR Services, available at eu-rep@wisepropertytax.com.
10. Changes & contact
If we make a material change to this Policy, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@wisepropertytax.com or write to Wise Property Tax LLC, Attn: DPO, 1000 E 5th St, Suite 200, Austin, TX 78702.
